WELCOME TO MY SANCTUM SANCTORUM
Here's where you'll get the truth about Life, Love, Food and the kitchen world/Bizarre rants/Great recipes and other wacko stuff!

My opines and understandings/writings of this world are not a shared view of Avante and or anyone employed or associated with Avante Catering.

6.24.07 Sunday Morning, 6:15am
They say that ignorance is bliss- While I do believe there is some merit in that saying I also would add to the list of blissful things- Camping- Back in nature with no offerings from the real world- I think of those pioneers who were bent on westward expansion, weighed down with wooden wagons full of heavy furniture, screaming kids and to add no AIR Conditioning!!!-Plus the Rocky Mountains - They must have REALLY wanted to see California!!!-

Myself however sitting with a fabulous view of lake Sidney Lanier, Coleman stove hissing with the intention of making a pot of coffee, crows announcing the new day with honking caws and fish breaking the silence with huge flops in the water as they chow down on the surface buffet of water bugs and other water critters. Silence is bliss as well!

It’s these moments that stir deep desires in the human psyche- A connection with the primal animal deep down- A peaceful knowing from whence we came! The ability to transverse land and water- My brother in-laws ski boat staring me down from across the way proves the point- We are an adaptable species- We can make the best of it no matter locale-Even the astronauts who are circling in the shuttle high above are waiting for their chance to claim terra firma again. The one thing that the shuttle lacks is a grill! Whoda thunk! With all that technology and they couldn’t put a grill in the mix? Well, to bad for them- The skirt steak I’ve been marinating has substantial meaning and the beast who gave his or her life for this moment should be honored- Maybe sacrificing a couple virgins would do the trick, however at this moment virgin’s are scarce- I’ll just run naked around the fire a couple times and give some high pitched whoop whoops-

There, I feel much better now!!! Back to the steak- a pan and half dozen eggs in there cute carry case- Purpose sets in and it’s on!  Joy sets in as my simple kitchen in the wilderness comes alive-Brown butter awaiting the tender flesh of the above mentioned (now honored beast) - Heavy sizzle-The smell wafts through the air like a magicians wand-Magic does exist and I believe!!!  I’m at the alter of Mother Nature and She is giving the best Sunday sermon I’ve heard in a longtime- Johnny at the Jesus dome back home would give his eye teeth to have this type of command of my senses!!!  Camps surrounding come alive with children’s laughter and yawning parents emerge with wrinkled faces- and then as if a shot had been fired  all heads crane erratically searching for  “THAT SMELL!!” You can hear the salvia pouring from their mouths like a waterfall! RECIPE TO COME Back to my point about us being animals- Pavlov would be proud- “I think I feel him sitting down for coffee now!”

Listen people it’s all about the complete package when it come to cooking- Put some smoke in the air! Have fun with new things never tried before- Make a blue cheese martini?  Be the creative eating machines you were designed for- Take a stand against over processed and hormone/ steroid riddled foods poisoning our kids- Know what you are putting in your mouth! For Christ’s sake –Your body is a temple- Can you feel it- Can you feel it! Hallelujah-Amen brothers and sisters- We are in your magnificent temple built by the father’s hand (One day no less!) Eat and be Merry –Recycle- Think about our courageous Men and Women over seas giving us the right to enjoy your endless bounty- Think about the hands that picked your daily bread and know that they are suffering under political persecution- Know that ! Know that! Be thankful for those who went before us “ to see California” Who carved the land in your name to establish the largest farming and sustainable food supply ever in the history of  people kind- Be Thank-full people- Be thankful- Now let’s all crane our necks and smell deeply- Amen!

Wow- where did that come from- A food fueled early morning sermon indeed –DBI Deep in the woods- Back to nature-Inspired by being in the zone!  Until next time!
